25 Unique Things to Do in Florida (From a Native)

Florida Beach

Ahh, Florida. I feel very fortunate to have grown up in this beautiful state. Why? I come from a small town about 30 minutes outside of Disney World and Universal Studios. I went to college in Tampa just a short driving distance from some of America’s finest beaches. Not to mention, the Caribbean is just a quick flight or cruise port away!

That is why I have to stick up for my home state when people say it is only meant for old retirees. I promise, there is so much more to Florida than just Miami and Mickey Mouse. Here are 25 unique things to do and see in the Sunshine State that might surprise you.

The prehistoric natural spring is gorgeous. Are there anything procedures in place to protect it? This actually the first time I have heard about it. Probably because I haven’t traveled to the US yet but hopefully that will change someday.

What a GREAT list, and now I’m following your Instagram because you’re amazing. That pirate fest is now on my bucket list. (Because pirates.)

Great ideas for our family reunion next time. We’ve always enjoyed Florida. Manatees are magnificent – when I first saw them I was startled at their size. I also liked Sarasota state park. We could wade out into the gulf for what felt like miles and miles.
