Hi there! My name is Natalie Anastasia, and I am the creator of Pastels & Passports. Thanks for stopping by!
My passion for travel started at a very young age, as I was fortunate enough to grow up in sunny Florida. I practically lived at the beach and Universal Studios, where we had super easy access to the Caribbean. This turned my family into massive cruise people, and I must admit, we always will be!
I remember visiting Haiti right after the 2010 earthquake, and realizing that this love of travel was turning into something much deeper. Travel became not just a hobby or an activity I enjoyed, but something I needed in order to understand myself and others. I became fascinated by those I seemingly had nothing in common with at the surface, and was determined to learn more about their lives and experiences. I strongly believe that travel is the one thing that allows us to foster an immediate respect and admiration for each other.
I have always loved to write, but didn’t feel I had enough purpose to start a blog just yet. After graduating college in May of 2016, I moved to San Francisco with my boyfriend Ryley. I have since fallen in love with the beauty of the West Coast. Through wandering around this amazing city, I became inspired to share my experiences in hopes of encouraging others to step out of their comfort zones, too. Moving across the country is no small feat and helped me find the direction I had been searching for.
On Pastels & Passports, I write about all of my adventures here in San Francisco, as well as my larger ones domestic and abroad. In my travels, I consistently try to find those particularly hidden and special gems. My favorite and most memorable travel experiences have always been the super unique and hyper-local ones. For instance, getting a fish pedicure in Venice or staying at a hotel on the edge of the earth. Travel is important to me because it keeps me curious, energized and passionate. And I’ve found that by seeking out those unique experiences, I’ve become a storyteller with memories I’ll hold onto forever.
You might also be wondering where the pastel obsession came from! I have always been drawn to things that are light, bright and pretty. Pastels are just a part of my nature and I feel they are a great way to help describe who I am, so I try to incorporate them into my photos as much as possible.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my little bio and learn a bit more about my passion. I love connecting with others and would be thrilled to chat with you about all things travel, so be sure to add me on social media or shoot me a note.
Here’s to hoping your week is full of pastel adventures!
